Goodbye, poison ivy wallpaper!

I finally mustered up the energy to do something about the flowered, ivy wallpaper that was in our bedroom.

From the first time we saw this house almost three years ago, I've been thinking, "That wallpaper has got to go."

And last month, it did.

I invited a few friends over, promising them snacks and tea, if they would help me get that wallpaper down. And would you believe, they actually came to my house, one of them bringing her steamer for sharing?!

After much discussion, sampling, and more discussion, we decided on 'chopstick' and 'hosta.' It works, I think.

Any ideas for what to put on that charming little shelf? Or window treatments?

  1. Good work! I love it. And your bedroom set is gorgeous... antique?

I don't think you can ever go wrong with big, billowy white curtains. Ikea has some for $15 for a 2-pack that I just put up in our bedroom.

I'm stumped about the shelf... so many options! I can't wait to see what you end up doing!

  2. I think some light colored pillar candles of varying heights would look nice on your shelf.

  3. So pretty!
How about a nice crooked branch and some rocks for the shelf?

  4. Fun ideas! For the windows, I'm hoping for Roman shades (I love fabric, but need to keep the drafts out at night). For the shelf, I just might send my kids out on an interesting branch and rock expedition! Funny you should mention that, Kriss, because I've got a quilt-ish, wool applique, wall hanging growing in my mind, made with the kids old baby clothes.

    Best to you all today!
